The self-made man of Ben Franklin's time was not a success only in terms of money, but in terms of life. Money was the reward—not the goal. The American Dream is still alive, but it has been replaced in the eyes of many by a sham, by that counterfeit that says that money is the only true measure of the worth of a man. For many years, the origin of the HIV virus was unknown. Now, scientists believe that a subspecies of chimpanzee native to west equatorial Africa has been identified as the original source of HIV-1.
