The Immune System
[ send me this paper ]
A 13 page overview of the human immune system. This paper discusses the many components of that system and they way they interrelate with factors such as diet. Bibliography lists 6 sources.

The Importance of Phylogenetic Relationships in Evolutionary Biology
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page contention that phylogenetic relationships are a critical component of evolutionary biology. Indeed, it is upon our knowledge of phylogeny which we base much of our theory of evolution. Even in “Origin of Species”, that infamous production of an earlier century which many consider synonymous with the concept of evolution, Darwin relies heavily on his knowledge of phylogeny to assess the characteristics of plants and animals which he observed on his scientific voyage on the “Beagle”. Contends that this is only one example, of the many interrelationships of phylogeny and evolutionary theory which have occurred over time. It, along with the somewhat antiquated concept of ontogeny recapitulating phylogeny, however, illustrates the importance of phylogeny to evolutionary theory. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

The Importance of Scale:
[ send me this paper ]
This 3 page paper examines the importance of scale, and illustrates why the skeletal structure of a mosquito would never survive if blown up to human proportions. In this way, this paper critiques the relation of structure functionality and scale. Bibliography lists 1 source.
Filename: GSScales.rtf

The Kinesiology of the Volley Ball Serve
[ send me this paper ]
This 10 page paper provides an overview of the kinesiology of the volley ball serve, with a focus on the upper extremities. This paper assesses things like skill, balance and an anatomical analysis as well as a mechanical analysis. Bibliography lists 15 sources.
Filename: MHVolBal.rtf

The Lowly Tuna Sandwich: Its Ecological and Physiological Relevance to Man
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page analysis of the components of the tuna sandwich. Breaks the sandwich down into each of its components comparing them ecologically and evolutionary to man. The paper then concentrates on the molecular components of the sandwich, noting the particularly of the passage of elements such as starches and sugars through the digestive system of the human body. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
Filename: PPfoodAn.rtf

The Major Muscle Groups / An Overview
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper describing the five major muscle groups and providing specific information for a representative muscle from each. Includes six drawings of various muscles as well as information regarding their origin, insertion, function, and innervation. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
Filename: Muscgrup.wps

The Muscle System: An Overview
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page paper providing a general overview of the three types of muscle tissue. Muscle tissue is that which holds together the larger framework of the human body and enables us to move at will when functioning properly. Other types of muscles are associated with internal organs and operate involuntarily so that our intestines continue to work full time and our heart beats continually without any conscious effort. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
Filename: KSmusclOverv.rtf

The Nervous System
[ send me this paper ]
This 2 page paper provides an overview of the nervous system in both humans and other species. Specific information comparing the human system with others is included. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
Filename: SA006CNS .rtf

The Paradox of Pain
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper which examines and explains the paradox of pain. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
Filename: RApain.rtf

The Phylum Mollusca
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page discussion of the phylogeny of the phylum Mollusca. Provides an overview of the major classes of Mollusca including Amphineura, Monoplacophora, Gastropoda, Pelecypoda, Scaphopoda, and Cephalopoda. Outlines common morphological features known as synomorphies and discusses the variations between species. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
Filename: PPmollsk.wps

The Physiological and Behavioral Components of Sexual Mimicry
[ send me this paper ]
This 10 page paper outlines a study on sexual mimicry in animal populations. The physiological and behavioral components of sexual mimicry can be viewed through an understanding of polymorphism and the changes that occur in flycatcher populations. A number of studies of flycatcher populations provide a basis for understanding the physiological and behavioral changes that occur in the presence of different stimuli. This study relates to these changes through a view of existing studies, and assesses the methodologies used by other researchers to determine the best ways of studying this population.

The Physiological Concepts of Sleep: Implications for Nursing
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page discussion of the physiological processes associated with sleep. Defines sleep and delineates its critical cycles and the environmental, physiological, and psychological conditions which can interrupt those cycles. Emphasizes the need for nurses to allow for periods of uninterrupted sleep and to fully assess patients for sleep related problems. Bibliography lists 9 sources.
Filename: PPsleep.wps

The Physiological Impacts of Dioxins
[ send me this paper ]
A 12 page overview of the far reaching effects of dioxins such as chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (CDDs), chlorinated dibenzofurans (CDFs), and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Notes that although some dioxins are produced naturally, many are produced as pollutants from industrial applications and such activities as the incineration of waste products. Outlines the impacts of these pollutants on human and animal physiology emphasizing the adverse impacts to reproduction, lipid metabolism, and the central nervous system. Bibliography lists 17 sources.
Filename: PPdioxin.wps

The Physiological Manifestations of Stress
[ send me this paper ]
An 11 page overview of the physiological manifestations of stress. Includes specific information regarding the physiologies of three stress induced conditions: inflammatory bowel disease, migraine headaches, and memory loss due to impaired mossy fiber function. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
