Motor Skills Development: Neuronal Function and the Impact of Cerebral Palsy
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page overview of neuronal function in relation to motor skills. Delineates the impact of cerebral palsy on motor skill development. Concludes that the exact causes of cerebral palsy are not known. What is known, however, is that the condition is characterized by impeded neuronal function and that this impedance translates to poor motor skill development. Bibliography lists 12 sources.

Muscle Function in Weight Lifting
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page overview of the various muscles of the human body that function in weightlifting activities. The author contends that hundreds of muscles in all could be in involved but points out that the most important of these muscles from a kinesiological standpoint are the skeletal muscles that function either in extension or flexation. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Neuroarchitectural Differences in Brain Structure Between the Sexes
[ send me this paper ]
A 14 page overview of the differences in brain structure and neuroarchitectural that exists between males and females. These differences are found in numerous species of vertebrates and, in fact, in human beings themselves. Just what these differences mean, however, in terms of cognitive function is a subject of considerable debate. It does appear, however, that the manner in which males and females process information differs significantly. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

Oxytocin
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page research paper describing the purposes and effects of oxytocin. Oxytocin is one of two hormones produced in the hypothalamus and released by the pituatary glands. It is called the "touch hormone" because it has been found to be associated with the bonding that occurs between mother and child. Studies using this hormone in inducing labor are reported. Bibliography is included.

Physical Strength: What Is It?
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper which examines the condition of
physical strength, arguing that physical strength is not merely something that deals with
muscle mass. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
Filename: RAphys.rtf
Physiological Responses and Adaptation to High Altitude: The Sherpa
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page overview of the manner in which individuals from high altitude cultures function in high altitude situations. The author discusses the importance of hematological changes, differences in chest morphology, pulmonary function, and metabolism that characterize these people. Bibliography lists 16 sources.

Posture: Anatomy, Good and Poor Posture, Ailments and Treatments
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 20 page paper discussing the anatomical aspects of posture, good and poor posture, causes of poor posture, ailments and treatments. Many aspects of the anatomy affect a person’s posture which can easily turn from good into bad and painful. The spinal column provides the basis for good posture and naturally contains three curves which must be maintained. Muscles groups in the upper chest, back, trunk, lumbar region and in the lower extremities all contribute to the maintenance of good posture and when rehabilitation is required all muscle groups and their antagonists must be addressed. While poor posture seems natural to most people, proper posture must be a conscious effort applied on a daily basis which includes aspects in living space, work space and sleep environments. Many afflictions can be the result of poor posture such as migraine headaches, lower back pain, joint pain and nerve damage among others. Other than an awareness of good posture, many treatments are used for the rehabilitation of those patients who have severely bad posture which has resulted in an injury. Of the traditional methods there is exercise, stretching, strengthening and cardiovascular regimens which are applied. Physicians also recommend various perceptual control techniques, and mind-body therapies including yoga, tai chi, and the Alexander and Feldenkrais techniques among others. Selection of these therapies is largely based on the patient’s diagnosis and preference and what he or she is most likely to continue when the initial treatment has been completed.
Bibliography lists 9 sources.

Pressure Points and Human Physiology
[ send me this paper ]
A 12 page discussion of pressure points. Defines pressure points and discusses the physiology behind the various sensations which are associated with either intentional or unintentional stimulation of these pressure points. Provides specific examples of ailments and illnesses associated with several pressure points and discusses the role of acupressure and acupuncture in pain relief and in the treatment of various conditions. Bibliography lists 12 sources.

Protein Synthesis
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page paper describing the method by which ribosomes synthesize proteins in the cell’s cytoplasm. The paper identifies amylase as being one of the body’s proteins, one so specific that its presence in blood confirms diagnosis of pancreatitis, a potentially fatal disease. Includes one figure. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
Filename: KSproteinSyn.rtf
Proteins, Enzymes and Amino Acids
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page overview of the structure and function of proteins, enzymes, and amino acids. Details how structure affects function. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
Filename: PPprotei.rtf
Psychological Function and the Cerebral Cortex
[ send me this paper ]
A 9 page discussion of the many diverse roles the cerebral cortex plays in psychological function.
The author describes this portion of our brain and the mechanisms through which it works. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

Research Approaches To Extend Life Span In Lower Organisms
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. The quest for life extension continues to preoccupy mankind's scientific endeavors. Research in the area of increased longevity in lower organisms has produced findings associated with environmental (external) implications (Jazwinski, 1996), the discovery of longevity genes (Varmus, 1997), caloric limitations to produce beneficial metabolic changes (Yamaza et al, 2002) and achieving the same benefits of calorie limitations without the associated depravation by way of molecular mimicry (Anonymous, 2002). Bibliography lists 11 sources.

Research Design Considerations for the Evaluation of Effective Management Regimes for Oral Thrush in the Oncology Setting
[ send me this paper ]
A 4 page discussion of the various criteria which enter into research design. The author contends that not only does thrush present quantitative issues into the research environment, it also presents humanistic issues, issues which are sometimes more effectively evaluated with the use of qualitative verses quantitative research. A discussion of methods, methodologies, theoretical perspective, and epistemology is included. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

Research Proposal # 2
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page paper proposing specific research. One of the perplexing realities of the body of knowledge surrounding some of the paths of differentiation and affinities of specific molecules and specific genes is that they frequently behave in ways unexpected under current theory. Despite the fact that immunoglobulin (Ig) and T-cell receptor genes use the same recombinases, Ig genes are functionally rearranged only in B-cells and TCR genes only in T-cells. The basis for this lineage specificity of antigen receptor gene expression is still not well understood. The purpose of this proposed research is to attempt to determine why the genes are arranged only in the narrowly specified cell types. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

Retinal Scan Biometrics
[ send me this paper ]
7 pages. Biometrics is the use of physical characteristics to identify a person. This rapidly emerging technology is becoming more common as security measures are taken to a new level. Retinal scan biometrics uses iris recognition to identify the pattern of the iris that is as unique to each individual as are fingerprints. This outstanding research paper gives a detailed narrative of the emerging field of retinal scan biometrics. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
