Therapy Session Critique
[ send me this paper ]
A 20 page paper critiquing a therapy session with Rose, a concerned mother of a preschooler. Rose has approached Dr. Berenson for assistance with the problem of her five-year-old daughter waking during the night and expecting to spend the rest of the night with her mother. Dr. Berenson barely acknowledges the issue at hand, and never once does he offer Rose any practical, workable advice. Neither does he inform Rose that her problem is a common one, and that at her daughter's age it is approaching the point of curing itself. He interrupts Rose repeatedly. He does not listen, and he is impatient to gain control of both Rose and the session, not for the purpose of truly helping Rose, but more as a venue in which he can address his own needs for self-importance. Three Generations of Alcohol Abuse in Relation to Client Therapy
[ send me this paper ]
This is a 7 page study of multi-generation alcohol abuse in relation to a client case study. The client in this case study is affected by many stress agents which have been consistent throughout her 28 years of life. The single female client still lives at home with her family in a conservative religious household which has been dominated by her overbearing father who is a second generation alcoholic within his own history. The father smokes excessively with little consideration to others in the household. The client who is affected by second hand smoke nevertheless smokes marijuana herself and in a sense is the third generation of substance abuse. The family home remains cluttered and although they are aware of their daughter’s problems handling the home environment and her stress levels, they are not likely to change their situation.

Treatments for Schizophrenia: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Social Skills Training, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and Medication
[ send me this paper ]
This is an 8 page paper discussing some treatments for schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is considered a life-long illness in which individuals experience delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech and/or catatonic behavior among other symptoms. Without treatment, schizophrenics may be unable to cope with everyday experiences and this can negatively affect their social relationships, family function and occupational opportunities. Fortunately, there are several types of treatment which include anti-psychotic medications, cognitive-behavioral therapy, social skills training and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) among others. While almost all treatments report more success in combination with medication, medication alone cannot help individuals overcome the behaviors often associated with everyday stresses. From this perspective, cognitive behavioral therapy and social skills training are the most beneficial and in cases of severe depression accompanying schizophrenia, ECT has been reported to be extremely beneficial.
