Illiteracy And Juvenile Delinquency
[ send me this paper ]
10 pages in length. The notion that illiteracy is directly associated with the incidence of juvenile delinquency has received significant consideration within the psychological and educational communities. Clearly, if an individual does not possess the ability to read or write, the mere act of obtaining – much less advancing in – a good job is out of reach. Additionally, the basics of life represent the utmost frustration and anger, such as understanding simple directions or being self-motivated, which ultimately leads to a significant sense of failure. Combine that with the social stigma inherently associated with illiteracy, and this creates one considerably maladjusted youth whose inability to read and write breeds hopelessness and juvenile delinquency. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Is There A Positive Relationship Between Religiosity And Juvenile Delinquency?
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Religion is more than merely a subset of society; rather, myriad global communities often considered it the primary thread that weaves its way in and among every other aspect of existence. As beneficial a mechanism it may be in many components of life, however, one cannot consider it a positive influence upon juvenile delinquency when the issue at hand is religiosity. Research findings illustrate how excessively religious adolescents have a tendency to exhibit antisocial behaviors because of their devout beliefs. Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Jerome Kagen
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper that presents the arguments surrounding Kagen's statement that adolescence "begins in biology and ends in culture." Kagen's comment appears to be in response to the division among theorists in regards to the primary causative factor in adolescent behavior--some, including Gesell, believe that it is biology, while Karen Horney supported the belief in the cultural influences. Juvenile Gangs.
[ send me this paper ]
(6 pp) Generally, for purposes of this discussion, a gang can be considered to be a loosely organized group of individuals who collaborate together for social reasons. Modern day gangs now collaborate together for anti-social reasons. Gangs generally have a leader or group of leaders who issue orders and reap the fruits of the gang's activities. A gang may also wear their "colors", wear certain t ypes of clothing, tattoos, brands, or likewise imprint their gang's name, logo, or other identifying marks on their bodies. Many gangs also adopt certain types of hairstyles and communicate through the use of hand signals and graffiti on walls, streets, school work, and school property. It must be understood that it is not illegal to be in a gang and indeed many adults are currently involved in activities that meet Webster's definition for a gang. However, many gangs of t oday, especially youthful gangs, break the law to provide funding for gang activities or to further the gang's reputation on the streets. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
