Can Ordinary Americans Develop a More Effective Democracy
[ send me this paper ]
This 4 page paper tries to answer the question: Can Ordinary Americans Develop a More Effective Democracy? This paper relates the fact that when our Founding Fathers created the Constitution, one of the central dictums of the preamble was that if the government stopped working for the people, that another form of democratic government should be developed in its place. Most agree it can't happen. One of the fundamental reasons that this is the case is because it can be argued that ordinary Americans do not have enough of the qualities needed to develop a more effective democracy. In order to understand this argument, then, it is beneficial to consider some of the perspectives of a number of theorists, including James Madison, Gabriel Almond, Sidney Verba, Fareed Zakaria and de Toqueville. China: US Foreign Policy After WTO Accession
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper discussing how the bureaucratic politics model has influenced US foreign policy regarding China since China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO). China's need for greater economic prosperity for its people and greater international acceptance likely have been the driving forces behind its willingness to make any concessions at all to US requests. Certainly all conditions in China do not fit with the US' conception of democracy and individual freedom. Chinese Women And Communism
[ send me this paper ]
Nationalism, or what Westerners tend to
define as communism, effects not only the economic and political aspects
of a culture, but also, the social evolution by restricting and, or,
discouraging independent ideas and innovative processes. This 8 page

process that had little or no room and, or, inclination for advocating the rights of women,
even though the basic tenets of communism, as presented by Karl Marx, is the value of
the human 'capital'. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
