The Cuban Missile Crisis: Jupiter’s Role
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper discussing the usefulness of the Jupiter missile in ending the Cuban Missile Crisis. The Jupiter missile superficially appears to have a brief history, but it has been influential in several US initiatives. It was removed from service in 1964, but the lessons learned from it contributed significantly to the development of the US space program. It was a symbol of US presence in Italy and Turkey, as well as reflecting the cooperation of those governments with the US military at the time. Ultimately, it assumed a leading role in ending the stalemate between the US and the former USSR over what would happen in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. Bibliography lists 23 sources.

The Cuban Revolution
[ send me this paper ]
26 pages in length. The Cuban Revolution was initially waged as a means by which to end General Fulgencio Batista's totalitarian takeover; in it's purest sense, the conflict was a quest to re-establish the Cuban populace with the inherent human rights that had been stripped so many years before. Fidel Castro, a lawyer who was determined to overthrow Batista's autocracy, was initially the hero in America's eyes but ultimately became the enemy when, after he took political control as Prime Minister, he embraced Communism. The writer discusses the nature of revolutions, Batista and Castro as they relate to the Cuban Revolution. Bibliography lists 25 sources.

The Monroe Doctrine: Beneficial To The World Or Just The United States?
[ send me this paper ]
8 pages in length. The Monroe Doctrine stood for many things and addressed many issues, both nationally and worldwide; however, it can be argued that the primary motivation behind President James Monroe's desire to implement his doctrine was as a means by which to protect American interests. The 1823 declaration that announced Monroe's intentions was met with a considerable amount of surprise, being that it was looked upon as a mighty bold step toward American foreign policy. The writer discusses how Monroe effectively sought to protect the interests of every United States citizen, while at the same time flexing the country's blossoming authority. The Spanish/American War: United States Interest
[ send me this paper ]
14 pages in length. While the Spanish-American War may have destroyed Spain's dominion over the countries it lost to the United States, it also created intense patriotic and interventionist passion for every person involved, no matter which side they supported. Still and all, the mystery surrounding who actually downed the U.S.S. Maine remains to this day, and the truth will most likely never be learned. One thing is clear: while Spain took a political beating on account of the Spanish/American War, the United States did just the opposite. The writer discusses how the United States entered the Spanish/American war in defense of its own economic interests, as well as to further its own global status and prestige. Emphasizes that the U.S. reaction to the Cuban economic crisis, consisting mostly of economic sanctions, has ranged from apathy to outright attack. While this reaction could be expected given our turbulent interaction with the country since the cold war, it is a reaction which should have been tempered at least to some degree in recognition of the extreme hardship being faced by many of Cuba's most vulnerable citizens.
