They lived in peace for centuries, eventually establishing a Jewish society and culture that has been estimated to range in numbers between 5,000 to 9,000 people. In the 1930s and 1940’s, there were an estimated 30,000-40,000 Jews in China. Most of whom left after the end of World War II or during the Cultural Revolution. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

Thomas Friedman’s “From Beirut to Jerusalem”

Friedman, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner (1983 and 1988 for Middle East coverage) also won the National Book Award for “From Beirut to Jerusalem.” The most compelling portions of Friedman’s book are about the torment and the turbulence that is Lebanon.
