North Carolina During Colonial America And The Early Republic
[ send me this paper ]
7 pages in length. North Carolina's first wave of permanent English settlers came in the form of southeastern Virginia immigrants, whose relationship to the tidewater area helped label them as 'overflow' settlers. Their final destination at mid-century came to be a northeastern part of North Carolina known as Albemarle. Thirteen years later, eight Englishmen were granted a charter to North Carolina -- which has "received considerably less scholarly attention than have other mainland southern colonies of British North America" (Ambrose 229) – for aiding Charles II re-establish his place on the throne. At the crux of this charter reside the tenets of territorial dominion that clearly and ever so distinctly laid out the coordinates so that no one – absolutely no one – could be mistaken of just how much territory was involved. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

Popular Vote Verses the Electoral Process
[ send me this paper ]
A 12 page overview of the electoral process and how it contrasts with the popular vote. Provides a historical background for the implementation of the electoral process pointing out that the process was never intended to reflect popular will. Contends that this process is superior because it protects the interests of smaller states against the overwhelming population of the larger states. President Lincoln Did Manipulate The Confederate States Into Firing The First Shot
[ send me this paper ]
16 pages in length. Lincoln's participation in – and the ultimate outcome of - the American Civil War has long been heralded as a watershed in United States history. That slavery was finally looked down upon in the eyes of the law spoke to a social and cultural enlightenment never before known to either the blacks or whites. Moreover, the extent to which Lincoln led the country to an entirely different way of thinking with regard to the aspect of human rights was grand and far-reaching. However, not everyone is convinced that his involvement in the American Civil War was as clean and candid as the history books would like one to believe, inasmuch as speculation concurs how President Lincoln did manipulate the confederate states into firing the first shot at Fort Sumter. Bibliography lists 14 sources.
