Contextual Relationships Between Drug Use And Crime

5 pages in length. The duality of drug use and crime represents a long-standing association between two of society's most related – if not undesirable - behaviors. The extent to which criminal behavior and drug use feed off each other in such a way as to synergistically enhance their otherwise individual impact is both grand and far-reaching; that a number of contextual relationships exist to further this duality speaks to external stimuli that serve to exacerbate the problem. Correctional Filter

The extent to which today's penal system is exploding with overpopulated correctional facilities is both grand and far-reaching; that the correctional filter helps to attach punishment to fit the crime rather than throw everyone in jail even when unwarranted speaks to the way in which this screener affords the use of alternative correctional options. Corrections in California: Problems in River City
[ send me this paper ]
(5 pp) "River City" never was a real place; but
somehow I remember it from one of my mother's
musical records. Some one sang, "there is
trouble in River City, that starts with "T", and
rhymes with …" and the rest of the song is some
shadow of a memory that cannot be grasped, other
than the chorus constantly repeating "trouble,"
trouble, trouble," until they danced or faded away.
I have not thought of that song in a kahzillion
years, and now it pops into my head about
California Corrections. Our mind, or the human
memory can do tricks far beyond us sometimes. But
that ancient bit of memory seems very "right on,"
as far as corrections goes in California; it is
"trouble, trouble, trouble." Bibliography lists
3 sources.

Crime and Campaign Promises
[ send me this paper ]
An 8 page paper discussing the dichotomy between campaign promises relating to crime and actual observed results. We expect political candidates to lay out for us the reasons we should vote for them rather than for their opponents, and candidates oblige this expectation by making promises during their campaigns outlining the things they will do once they gain office. There will be reform, they promise. Things will be different. They will take some sort of stance against crime. Too often, these promises are made for the purpose of gaining votes rather than truly making a difference. In the end, the most effective law and order campaigns have been those that have come about without any direct influence on the part of newly-elected officials at any level of government. Bibliography lists 17 sources.
