Leadership: Nelson Mandela.
[ send me this paper ]
(5 pp) Although our theme for this essay is "Leadership in the Making, " I really wanted to do this essay on Nelson Mandela, because he is such a person of peace. When he was born in 1918, Medela's father named him Rolihlahla by his father. This name technically means"pulling the branch of a tree" but colloquially means "troublemaker." For his "trouble" and speaking of Africans owning their own land he was imprisoned for over 20 years. This man is inspiring! Bibliography lists 5 sources.

Malcolm X and His Popularity Today
[ send me this paper ]
A 10 page paper that discusses the popularity of Malcolm X in today's society. Malcolm X is greatly exaggerated today, in relationship to the amount of individuals who are promoting him and merchandise that bears his image. More often than not, these individuals who endorse such merchandise, are actually incredibly ignorant about what Malcolm X stood for. During his day, Malcolm X was greatly disliked, even by many of his own race, as his visions were often based on anger. Malcolm X And Martin Luther King: Differing Approach
[ send me this paper ]
6 pages in length. Comparing the approach to racial issues between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. requires the student to delve into various elements of each man's past, such as differing regional origins, in order to gain a significantly better understanding as to why – while enlightening the world on the same subject matter – came away doing so in such divergent ways. Alex Haley illustrates these differences in The Autobiography of Malcolm X; while penned by Haley -- an American writer who depicts the struggles of American blacks -- it is actually a compilation of many interviews that were conducted shortly before Malcolm's death. It was not known at the time of publication, however, that the autobiography would create such a furor over its release; in fact, the book soon became recognized as a classic of black American autobiography. No additional sources cited.

Malcolm X: Changing Societal Structure
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page overview of the life and contributions of Malcolm Little, the man who would come to be known as Malcolm X during the civil rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Discusses the dichotomy of societies memory of this man and the changes in that memory over time. Concludes that perhaps this change in our collective memories is simply a reflection of political correctness or perhaps it is indeed a correction of a misperception. What is obvious, however, is the fact that Malcolm X, regardless of his tactics, was instrumental in effecting change in the societal structure of our country. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
